Sprite Sheet Shenanigans
2025-03-22
While actually coding makes me want to die, I have found that just making
miscellaneous resources and assets is actually fun and makes me feel productive.
I have no clue if these assets will actually be used, of course, but I still like drawing.
Today I put together a Sprite Sheet for the Overworld exploration portions of the game
that exists in my mind.
Overall, I think it turned out... okay? I mean I still want to go in and shade stuff and whatnot,
but I don't really want to go to crazy on the visuals. I kind of like the sort of very simply shaded / rendered
look? But I might also go more Earthbound-y. Who can say! Idk. I also think the 45 Degree sprites aren't
obviously 45 Degree-y enough. I mean I'm sure you'll be able to tell in actual GAMEPLAY, but that doesn't exist right now!
I think I'm getting in my own head about this too much.
Like, it's weird. I almost feel like I need to make a bunch of different coloured and shaded variants to more accurately fit
the mood of areas that only exist in my head right now? Idk, I'll probably make some tilesets next. Gits and Shiggles, and whatnot.
Really the strongest idea for an area in my mind right now is the "Aquarium" area, that I've already made music for (In my portfolio),
so I'll probably do some doodling (More than MS Paint, that is). I'm also thinking of a Cowboy themed town, some other stuff. I'll probably
share the concept for the game at some point as well because I'm just now realizing I've never posted it anywhere.
